Jeremy Renner Injured in Snow Plowing Accident, Undergoes Two Surgeries

Actor Jeremy Renner, known for his roles in Marvel’s “Hawkeye” and the Paramount+ series “Mayor of Kingstown,” is currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) in a critical but stable condition after suffering “blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” in a New Year’s Day snow plowing accident in Nevada. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office stated that Renner was the only person involved in the accident and that its Major Accident Investigation Team is looking into the circumstances of the incident. Renner has undergone two surgeries to address his injuries.

Blunt chest trauma refers to an injury to the chest that is caused by a direct blow or impact. This type of injury can cause damage to the chest wall, ribs, internal organs, and blood vessels. Surgeries that may be performed for blunt chest trauma include rib repair or rib removal, chest tube placement, and surgery to repair damaged internal organs or blood vessels.

Orthopedic injuries, such as broken bones, typically require surgical intervention to repair the damage. Depending on the location and severity of the injury, this may involve fixing the bone with screws, pins, or plates, or surgically realigning the bone. In some cases, damaged bone or tissue may need to be removed and replaced with a bone graft.

In a statement, Renner’s family thanked the hospital staff and first responders for their care and expressed appreciation for the outpouring of love and support from the actor’s fans.

Renner, 51, is best known for his role as Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in several films and television series beginning with 2011’s “Thor.” He has also had roles in films such as “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol,” “The Bourne Legacy,” “Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters,” “American Hustle,” “Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation,” and “Arrival.”

In addition to his acting career, Renner is also a musician and songwriter. He released his debut album, “The Medicine,” in 2020 and has co-written songs for artists such as Lady Gaga and Britney Spears.

Renner has had a tumultuous personal life, including a marriage and divorce to Canadian model Sonni Pacheco, with whom he shares custody of their daughter. In 2019, Renner was granted a restraining order against his ex-wife, alleging that she had made threats against him and their daughter.
